BREAKER
FABRIC
Breaker
Fabrics are used in many applications in Conveyor Belt Manufacture.
Most commonly they are used to stiffen the belt, but also they act as
a rip stop.
The construction of the fabric is a flexible textile warp - most commonly
a nylon yarn, and a stiff heavy weft. The fabric is flexible in the longitudinal
direction, and stiff in the lateral direction.
Composite
Textiles offer two different weft materials.

Steel
wire has a number of problems. It is too flexible, so can distort
and give poor stiffness in the belt. It can rust. It is difficult
to achieve fabric stiffness above about 800N/mm. All these problems
can be overcome using Composite Textiles Non-Metallic Breaker
Fabric, which is designed for easier processing and better long term
fatigue performance in the belt. |
